Marvin Bell

Marvin Bell's latest book—his seventeenth—is Nightworks: Poems 1962-2000. Bell lives in Iowa City, Iowa, where he now teaches one semester a year for the Writers' Workshop; Sag Harbor, New York; and Port Townsend, Washington. In the year 2000, the State of Iowa named him its first Poet Laureate. His "spinner" poem was written expressly for Electronic Poetry Review, and approximates the format of the "dead man" poems of his two previous collections, The Book of the Dead Man and Ardor.
