Rachel Zucker is the author of Annunciation (The Center for Book
Arts, 2002) and Eating in the Underworld (Wesleyan, 2003). She
has new poems appearing or forthcoming in Crowd, Colorado
Review, Prairie Schooner and Pleiades. She lives in
New York with her husband and two sons. "What Modest Wants"
is the first in a series of five collaborative poems created with her
mother-in-law, the artist Lynn Heitler.
