Major Jackson

Major Jackson is the author of Leaving Saturn (University of Georgia Press, 2001) which was awarded the 2000 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. He is the recipient of fellowships and awards from Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Pew Fellowship in the Arts, Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center, as well as a commission from Philadelphia's Concerto Soloists. His poetry has been published in American Poetry Review, Boulevard, Callaloo, The New Yorker, Post Road among other literary journals. He teaches at Xavier University of Louisiana and lives in New Orleans.
