 What Has He Got

The coffee pot all guts
the yellow lily all out
the newspaper in a plastic bag

words so easy easy words.
The Chinese elm all body
a pair of Chinese elms

and a waxwing to say so.
The silver bicycle all vanity
the greed of the tires

the patience of the gears.
The more more more more
of the road that disappears.

The wind all change
the clouds all forgetting
the rain never lasting

the zazen of the garbage can
full and empty.
The power lines all form

the tall weeds all style
the mourning dove all geometry
the gravel’s loose democracy.

The dew all splash
the dirt all under
the shovel’s single point.
