Richard Caddel

writing in the dark II : nightgarden songs

ponds

i

water on
stone as
starlight goes —

moon and
surface
fall still —

wearing away,
in dark
nightscript

ii

hear water
falling on
water's surface

at night —
sound, pattern
displaces, places

resolves
itself
by moonlight

iii

pond
still;
empty bench

by cloud-
light —
still

spaces
of breathless
surprise

From nightgarden songs:

moons
snails
